Yogalicious Updates

Dear Friends,

Happy almost “New Year”; new school year, new season, new opportunity to start from scratch once again!

Our group classes in Hanover resume Monday, September 14, with 3 special pop up classes @ 5:30AM, 9AM & 11AM. I’m so excited to welcome you back!

I am incredibly grateful for how this little space has grown since we opened our doors in January 2023…the classes, the conversations, the sweat, the laughter, the friendships, the referrals, the many cool lavender infused washcloths, the special connections…those of you who keep coming back and those who bring a new friend through the door. You are so incredibly brave and so incredibly awesome! Thank you. Truly.

Your authentic support has allowed us to become something much more meaningful than simply a space to move. It has become a gathering place, a commUNITY.

As we begin another year together, I want to share a few changes (90 min classes, new schedule, women-only classes!) and some things that aren't changing at all (supporting the Prison Yoga Project!)

MOVE WELL. AGE WELL. LIVE WELL. TOGETHER.

I believe more strongly than ever that breath & movement are medicine.

Our bodies are meant to move, are souls are meant to connect. In a world that seems to be moving faster and becoming more connected to technology (and often less connected to one another) I believe we also need to intentionally slow down.

Which is why all our yoga classes are now 90 minutes. Yes, 90 minutes. On purpose!

Increasingly, research supports what this ancient practice has been teaching for thousands of years: our bodies and nervous systems benefit from slowing down, breathing deeply, moving mindfully, resting and disconnecting from constant stimulation.

So instead of making our yoga practice shorter to squeeze one more thing into the day, I’m challenging us to do the opposite. For 90 minutes, it can wait.

And, yet, 90 minutes to ourselves is also a privilege, a huge gift. Many of us are juggling heavy commitments. Our time is full with work, children, school, aging parents, relationships, households, a seemingly endless list of responsibilities. Sometimes 90 minutes simply isn't available.

So here's how we'll make it work: IHP with Weights will be 60 minutes, while YOGA will be 90 minutes. Every class will be thoughtfully designed so that at the 60-minute mark, anyone who is truly required to leave is always welcome to quietly roll up their mat. No apologies. Take care of yourself. This is your practice.

Whether you have 60 minutes or 90, come. Taking what you need is part of the practice, too. For those who can stay, those additional 30 minutes give us something increasingly rare: time. Time to breathe. Time to move without rushing. Time to challenge ourselves and time to rest. And yes—time for a REAL savasana instead of mentally racing toward whatever comes next! We’re calling these classes “26 & Yin”.

More than ever, we need to take time to care for the most important person we will spend our entire lives with: Ourselves. Not so that we can withdraw from the people we 💖, but so that we can return to them replenished and show up as the very best versions of ourselves.

OUR SCHEDULE WILL BE ADAPTIVE

Yoga is part of life, not separate from it. It’s important that Yogalicious reflects that balance—authentically.

Please think of the schedule below as our weekly template, please pencil it in, things can change, things DO change, remember to be flexible. Privates, semi-privates and pop ups are always possible, anything is possible! The online calendar will always have the most current schedule.

CREATING SPACE FOR WOMEN

Over the past few years, I have become increasingly interested in creating Community and connection for women. Women need time together. We also need time away. We need our own space - to take up space, to exhale, to move our bodies, to laugh, to talk, to be quiet and sometimes simply to be.

Because Yogalicious is intentionally small and intimate, beginning January 1, 2027 regular classes at Yogalicious Hanover will become women-only.

This isn't about excluding the men we love. Quite the opposite. I believe there is something powerful about intentionally creating spaces for women where we can feel comfortable, supported and safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All current class cards held by male students will, of course, be honored through the end of the year.

And men are certainly not disappearing from Yogalicious! Much like an AA Meeting may sometimes be designated for a particular group while other meetings are open to everyone, we will continue to offer special OPEN TO ALL classes throughout the year.

Husbands, partners, sons, daughters, family members, visiting friends and holiday guests will all have opportunities to join us. These classes will be clearly marked OPEN TO ALL on our calendar.

YOUR PRACTICE HELPS SOMEONE ELSE PRACTICE

There is one other piece of Yogalicious that is incredibly important, and you help make possible.

While many mornings are spent teaching here in Hanover, I will continue dedicating afternoons to outreach and teaching in the broader Community, particularly working with underserved populations and incarcerated individuals.

Working with The Prison Yoga Project and teaching in correctional settings has become an important part of my own practice and purpose. And when you pay for a class at Yogalicious, you help support that work.

The money you spend here allows me to dedicate time to teaching, volunteering and bringing movement, breath, mindfulness and human connection to people who may have very limited access to these practices. In other words: Your practice helps support someone else's practice, too.

Yoga is not a practice reserved only for those who can afford it. I am deeply grateful that your support of Yogalicious helps take this work beyond our little space and out into the broader Community.

ONE LAST PRACTICAL REMINDER…

Receipts are always available upon request!

Students may submit their Yogalicious classes for reimbursement through employer wellness programs, health spending accounts or insurance benefits. If you have access to one of these programs, please use it! We’re always happy to provide the paperwork you need.

Mostly, I just want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for trusting us with your practice. Thank you for walking through the door. Thank you for bringing your friends. Thank you for supporting this tiny, quirky, sweaty, messy, joyful space.

Thank you for the conversations before and after class, the laughter, the vulnerability and your willingness to keep showing up!

My hope for Yogalicious remains wonderfully simple:

Move Well. Age Well. Live Well. Together.

Here's to another year of movement, strength, connection, laughter, Community…and a whole lot of sweat!

Namaste,

Maggie
